Charles Dickens’ Birthplace Museum isn’t the only place in Portsmouth with links to the great author. In fact, there are so many links to Dickens dotted around the city that you can take a walking tour around 14 of them and you’ll cover nearly 8 miles.
Starting at the museum itself, the trail then takes you past the statue on Guildhall Square then along to old haunts of Dickens and his family members. You will also see buildings that served as inspirations for his work and the final resting places of people who played a large part in Dickens’ life.
The trail leaflet comes with a map of all the numbered sites, as well as information on their links to Dickens and imagery, so you know you’re in the right place.
