The museum is now in its summer period and is open Fridays - Sundays, 10am - 5.30pm. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.
The museum will also open on 7 February 2020 to celebrate Dickens' birthday.

Senior Citizen: £3.90
Unaccompanied child (aged 13-18): £3.40
Under 18s: Free when accompanied by a paying adult. Children aged under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Portsmouth residents free of charge (proof of residence required).
If you live in postcode areas PO1 to PO6, please bring proof of address such as a driving licence, utilities bill etc.
If you live in PO7 and are a Portsmouth resident, please bring a copy of your current Council Tax Bill.
We do not have an online ticketing system at present but we do accept all major payment cards, cash or cheques at the museum. Advance booking is not required, just buy your tickets on the day.
There will be a series of live readings throughout summer by members of the Dickens Fellowship's Portsmouth Branch. Taking place at 3pm, these readings will see Dickens scholars bring some of their favourite passages to life, free to all museum visitors. Dates and readers are as follows:

Sunday 1 September - Julia MacFarlane
There will be an additional reading in September, date and reader to be confirmed.
The museum has a well-stocked shop selling a wide and varied range of souvenirs, gifts, china and books, including all major works by Charles Dickens and biographies of this famous author.
Groups are welcome to visit the Charles Dickens' Birthplace Museum but please book in advance by emailing MVS@portsmouthcc.gov.uk. The size and setup of the house means groups of no more than 20 people can be admitted at any one time. Larger parties can split into smaller groups to enjoy the museum in turn. Please note group charges apply and the free tickets for under 18s does not include group visits.
